Team STAG ARMS Takes Top 5 finish at The 2013 FNH 3-Gun Championship

Team Stag Arms member Jesse Tischauser put together his best finish of the season by breaking into the Top Five in the Tactical Optics division this past weekend at the 2013 FNH 3-Gun Championship at the Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, WV.

Tischauser, fourth out of 290 shooters in the Tactical Optics division, commented "I got a late start to the natural terrain outlaw match season so I didn’t really know what to expect coming into one of the biggest matches in the country. I had a really rough start on my first two stages of the match. Both my pistol and my shotgun went down on the first stage and  I had to borrow two of my three guns from a friend to even finish the match.

Then on stage two I tried to pick up the pace playing catch up and it burned me. I settled in on the third stage of the first day and relied heavily on my Stag Arms Model 3G to pull me out of the hole I was in. I finished the third stage of the day which included the longest shot of the match at 390 yards with a third place time.”

With storms forecast for the final day of the match, shooters were encouraged to shoot an extra stage on day one and two. “After the strong performance on the third stage I was feeling more confident. We rushed over and shot one additional stage before dark. I managed to lay down another top three finish on that stage and left the range feeling that I could lean on my rifle the rest of the match to pull me back into contention,” said Tischauser.

Day two featured three stages that included a lot of difficult unsupported and kneeling rifle shooting. “I needed my Model 3G to run and it was flawless as usual. I picked up a bunch of points that second day. That led me to believe a top five finish was in the works as long as I could shoot the last stage of the match well,” stated Tischauser.

“The skies were cloudy and rain was moving closer to us on the third and final day of the Championship. Most shooters had only one stage to shoot in order to finish the match. I have to hand it to the Range Officers, Match Director, and Range Master for getting us through all nine stages dry! My last stage of the match included a lot of long range rifle and shotgun shooting. I did not want to have to deal with the elements during that type of precision shooting. We hit the range early and the Range Officers started our squad over an hour prior to our scheduled go time. I shot the stage nearly perfect-putting down another top three stage time while sealing the deal on a fourth place overall finish,” commented Tischauser.

Team Stag Arms’ Jesse Tischauser and Kalani Laker shoot their next major match, the Fallen Brethren 3 Gun Championship, October 3rd-5th in Jacksboro, TX. With Laker coming off of a second place finish at the Pro-Am Championship and Tischauser laying down a top performance at Peacemaker, Team Stag Arms is ready to make a run up the leader board in Texas. “I missed the FNH match and Jesse missed the Pro-Am match. With both of us shooting really well this year we are extremely anxious to get back on the range at the same time. When you get the two of us working together on the stages we are going to be tough to beat,” remarked Laker.

Stag Arms was founded in 2003 with the goal to manufacture reliable, 100% American made competitively priced Mil-spec AR15’s. Since then, we have quickly become a market leader and one of the largest manufacturers in the United States.

What is the Difference Between the STAG-15 and the STAG-16?

Stag Arms uses the designation of STAG-15 and STAG-16 as rifle designations instead of AR-15 and M-16 due to them being trademarks of another manufacturer.

Side by side, the STAG-15 and the STAG-16 look quite similar, to the point that many affirm they are the same rifle with a different name.

Nothing can be further from the truth, starting with the fact that the STAG-15, which is targeted mainly at civilian users, is a semi-automatic rifle, while the STAG-16, which is used by police and military, is a select fire rifle which can shoot in a semi-automatic mode, burst mode, or in a fully automatic mode.

STAG-16’s and all other select fire, burst fire, and fully automatic firearms have been strictly regulated since 1934 and no new firearms of these types have been permitted for sale to private owners since 1986. Possession of any select fire, burst, or fully automatic parts except for the bolt carrier are illegal unless the firearm is already privately owned and registered with the NFA branch of the ATF.

August was a Successful Month for the STAG Arms 3G Rifle

"In the world of Competitive Shooting, the month of August holds the most diversified matches a competitor will find. Long 600 yard shots, courses in complete darkness, and quick speed shoots will test any 3 Gunner in the country to their limits.

2013 Queen's Medalist Winner: Keith Cunningham & Stag Arms

Stag Arms congratulates Keith Cunningham for using our Model 6L with its 1/2MOA guarantee to win both the Canadian National Service Rifle Championships and Canadian National 3-Gun Championship.

The dealer who sold the rifle to Keith received the letter below and forwarded it to us..

"I recently won the Canadian National Service Rifle Championships with the left handed Stag rifle I purchased from Arms East. This involved a series of 20 matches over 2 ½ days including deliberates, snaps, rapids and run downs at distances of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 meters. I have fired over 1000 round through this rifle without a single stoppage. I also used this rifle to win the Operational Shooting Association’s club level SR matches.

I also used it to win the Canadian National 3-Gun Championship. This is a National Service Conditions Championship aggregate of the operational three weapons including pistol, service rifle and sniper rifle. During NSCC I set a new record for the 500 meter stage while using this rifle. I scored a 50.6 in the deliberate, 49.7 in the snap, 47.5 in the rapid and a 50.3 in the 500 to 100 run down – a total of 196.21.

I am particularly enjoying the left hand feature as it is allowing me to adapt better to certain positions. I have enclosed a couple of photos. Please feel free to use my image. Please pass on to Stag Arms my appreciation for a fine rifle!"

The difference between Gas Piston and Direct Impingement technology for an AR-15

The AR-15 Rifle, while eminently customizable, carries with it a few conundrums. One is the choice of operating system; do you get a model which uses gas piston technology, or the more traditional direct impingement?

Fans of the gas piston will state that impingement models are prone to jamming and often foul easily. Fans of the impingement model will call gas piston tech mechanically unsound. Who is correct, and what is the real difference between the model types here?

The History of the AR-15 – America’s Most Popular Rifle Design

The AR-15 design was originally invented in the years following World War II as a direct response to the evolving needs of infantry soldiers. The Operations Research Office of the Army had determined that they needed a low recoil firearm which would have a decent capacity to fire small projectiles.

The Winchester Repeating Arms Company, the Springfield Armory, and ArmaLite all developed prototype firearms, with ArmaLite’s offering being the now-famous AR-15 rifle.
